Who we are

Amanda Godber

is a professional gardener working in the Stroud Valleys. She has grown organic vegetables for the last twenty years, starting off as many do with tomatoes in pots. Now the range of produce she grows includes most traditional vegetables, as well as amaranth, quinoa, dried pulses, physalis, cranberries, huckleberries and tomatillos. Amanda has an established allotment and this year has increased her ‘plot size’. “Ideally I would like to grow all my own fruit and vegetables, but the range I’ve grown I’m really pleased with”. Amanda also makes lots of home made wine, and is learning how to conserve crops for the winter. “I had a go at drying onions and apple rings last year – so far so good!”

Helen Royall

has been at the heart of Transition Stroud for a number of years, organising events such as Eco Homes and Edible Open Gardens. She is a therapist, singer, musician and more recently a keen allotmenter! "I love my allotment and get so much pleasure from sharing what I've grown with friends. I'm really pleased at how my first attempts at growing have produced so much delicious food".

Helen Pitel

has a long history of being a project worker and volunteer, and many years of varied work within horticulture, both practically as a grower and as a teacher. She has experience of working in community projects and engaging people with environmental learning. Qualified in agriculture, horticulture and adult education, Helen's hobbies include walking, textiles and cooking.
