Growing Communities Project

Earlier this year we were fortunate enough to be awarded some funding through Stroud District Council to deliver this project.

The aim of the Growing Communities Project was to encourage and support households to have a go at growing their own vegetables. To do this, we recruited volunteers from specific areas of the Stroud district and trained them in growing food organically through an Open College Network (OCN) training course. After the volunteers had completed their training, we supported them out in their own communities getting other households started.  Growing Communities was supported by Dursley, Stroud, and Stonehouse Town Councils, and Cainscross Parish Council.

Although this project has now finished, some of our volunteers are still keen to help households start on the home growing adventure, so if you need some help - perhaps you have a lawn that needs digging up or some raised beds built, or just some ideas about what you can do with your growing space - get in touch and we'll see what we can do.
